Chinese Dress Qipao / Cheongsam

I have always been fascinated with the beauty and unique elegance of style which the Chinese classic dress delivers...known as Qipao or Cheongsam. The Qipao is a close fitting dress and traditionally worn by Chinese women. Easy to slip on and comfortable to wear, it is one of the most versatile costumes in the world. The high-necked, closed-collar and sleeves either in full length, short, medium or even sleeveless to suit different occasions, weather and individual tastes. The dress is buttoned on the right side, with a loose chest, a fitting waist, and slits skirt up from the sides, all of which combine to set off the beauty of the female shape.

The Qipao came from the Manchus who grew out of ancient Nuzhen tribes. Initially it started from a collarless, tube-shaped gown which was worn by both men and women. That is the embryo of the Qipao. The Chinese apparel Qipao became popular among ladies of the royal family in the Qing Dynasty. At that time, Qipaos were fitted loosely and long. Usually, they were made of silk and the whole dress was embroidered, with broad lace trimmed at the collar, sleeves and edges.

Like a dress that is made from 4,000 tea bags?

The latest in bizarre dresses has arrived. After paper napkins, newspapers, and even condoms, we now have a dress made of tea bags. This one was made by a 16-year-old from Kuala Lumpur, and she used a whopping 4,000 tea bags to create her masterpiece. She won the top prize at the Green Awards 2011 held in Kuala Lumpur in October. Suraya Mohd Zairin is a science student from SMK Bukit Jelutong, Shah Alam. She says that she chose to make a dress out of tea bags because they were easily available to her. With the help of her friends, she was able to collect the 4,000 bags and then it took her three months to complete the dress. The theme followed by the budding designer was ‘flowers’, because their shapes have always mesmerized her. Suraya says that people tend to take flowers for granted, and through her dress she wanted to highlight the significance of nature, especially that of flowers. She was the youngest contestant in the category, and never expected to win. Needless to say, she was quite shocked when her name was announced as the winner. The two categories of the award where wildly creative and totally active. She received RM4000, which is approximately $1,700, along with a trophy, for her efforts. Young, smart and talented!

Human Dressings...Current fashion trends

People suffered in more anxiety of having to dress sexier and trying to letting the public know about (showing off) their body, but the problem is they do not see back on the mirror of how will they look before appearing in public. A question would be thrown back to them, “where are they from?” Do they come from oversea? A survey has shown that out of 100%, almost 83.5% are “copycats”. They will just take other people’s dressing or fashion out from no where. Like comparison of the young Malaysian and the teenage Koreans or the Japanese. The sensation of having to dress in thick clothing’s, long rapped heel shoes, but with a short mini skirt. Maybe it is a trend for them to wear like that when back at their country but for the Malaysian’s, they know that they do not have the opportunity to have all these but they gain the lust from the internet fashion. So, they copy! Don’t they realize that it is awful? People in the republic may have the season to wear their clothing’s and that is right for them but the Malaysian’s would wear whatever that they seem to see is nice to them and would not care about the weather, even though that they are sweating all over it would be worth for them. Like (for example), winter clothing’s, performance clothing’s and casual corner, they would dress like (as though) they are going to perform the most prestigious show on earth or attending to a party and other would dress like as though they came back from the cold country. Not knowing that they had bad taste.
